Valkyries, in Scandinavian Mythology, warrior maidens that choose who will win or die in battle. The valkyries bring their chosen who have died bravely in battle to Valhalla (hall of the slain). Those who has chosen will prepare for Ragnarok battle.
Valkyrie also appear as lovers of human being and heroes. The Valkyries were Odin and Erda's (Odin's wife and Earth Goddess) nine beautiful daughters, who rode winged horses to Earth.
